Project Overview

Do Mar Marisqueira is a new seafood restaurant located on the Portuguese coast, aiming to offer a refined yet approachable dining experience that celebrates the region’s deep connection to the sea. We were tasked with creating a complete visual identity for the brand, including the logo, menus, takeout packaging, staff uniforms, and social media visuals. The goal was to craft a cohesive identity that feels modern, elegant, and distinctly maritime—appealing to both locals and tourists seeking a fresh seafood experience.

Our Role

As the studio, we led the project from concept to execution, managing all aspects of branding and design. This included creative direction, typography and color selection, layout design, packaging, uniforms, and digital assets. We collaborated closely with the client to define the brand’s tone and visual language, ensuring every element aligned with their vision and practical business needs.

The Challenge

The main challenge was to create a brand that felt premium yet approachable. The restaurant wanted to avoid a traditional or generic appearance, instead achieving a modern identity rooted in local culture. The system also needed to be flexible, easily adapting to seasonal menus, takeout materials, merchandise, and digital applications without losing visual consistency.

Creative Process

Discovery and Research: We explored the visual aesthetics of coastal restaurants across Portugal, the local seafood culture, and industry trends, gaining insight into how to position the brand uniquely.

Defining the Brand Personality: Through client discussions and moodboarding, we defined a personality that is elegant, grounded, coastal, and confident—welcoming yet refined with subtle nods to maritime heritage.

Logo Design: A sophisticated serif font was selected for the logo, providing a sense of craftsmanship and quality. The typographic treatment is clean and balanced, reinforcing the restaurant’s premium positioning.

Color Palette Development: We developed a palette inspired by the sea, local seafood, and the coastal environment. These colors reflect both the natural surroundings and the experience of dining by the water.

Menus: Two distinct menus—lunch and dinner—were designed with elegant spacing, clear hierarchy, and refined typographic styles, maintaining consistency while adapting to the different dining experiences.

Packaging: Branded takeout bags and containers were designed to be both functional and stylish, using simplified logo treatments and core brand colors to extend the identity outside the physical restaurant.

Uniforms: Aprons were created to be practical yet elegant, incorporating the logo in a subtle, sophisticated way.

Digital Assets: Branded Instagram templates and launch visuals were designed for easy use and consistent brand presentation across social channels.

Outcome

The final branding system is flexible, distinctive, and aligned with the restaurant’s interior concept, menu, and customer experience. Since launch, the brand has received positive feedback for its clean and stylish visual identity, especially from customers sharing photos on social media. The client now has a full suite of materials that supports their growth, strengthens brand perception, and helps them stand out in a competitive market.
